Presentation

The IAU Portal on HESD is a collaborative platform that centralizes and disseminates information on activities and actions promoting sustainable development undertaken by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) around the world.

Objectives

  • Promote the key role that higher education could and should play in the overall process of achieving sustainable development;

  • Set a range of practices in the fields of leadership, community outreach, and research that the entire higher education community can read and use to develop its own strategies / activities / actions to address sustainability;

  • Identify HEIs and Organizations actively promoting sustainable development;

  • Create a global forum where all stakeholders can share information and facilitate partnerships.

Target Audience

The higher education community as a whole: higher education institutions, academia, students, HE administrators and other interested parties and/or contributors.

All other interested stakeholders: intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, Ministries of Education, school administrators and teachers as visitors.

Main activities

  • A news feed highlighting interesting activities developed around the world

  • A global calendar of events
  • A map localizing actions undertaken by HEIs and Organizations
  • A database providing access to key charts, declarations on HESD, other key documents
  • Research tools to easily find information on the HESD Portal / IAU HEDBIB Bibliographic Database
  • Create questionnaires to assess the integration of sustainable development

Results

HEIs and Organizations committed to sustainable development that submit actions/documents/etc. will receive full benefit for their contributions and full visibility online.
