Sherbrooke University eliminated 150 parking spots in the heart of its main campus and created a lush oasis to provide a better environment for its students.
The goal was to create a vast green space in the heart of the University campus and our landscape architecture and urban infrastructure teams eagerly took up the challenge. Our team designed the Coeur-Campus Park so that runoff from parking lots and roofs could be efficiently used and treated.
The new "Coeur-Campus Park" now replaces what used to be a large parking lot and has quickly become a very popular meeting place for students and staff alike.
In addition to storm water storage ponds, the development includes a new 17,500 m2 natural green space with over one hundred indigenous trees and shrubs.
