Green University Campaign

As part of its ongoing commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies at Future University (Al-Mustaqbal University) has launched an environmental initiative under the banner “Towards a Green University.” The campaign focuses on planting sustainable, low-maintenance plants across the university campus to promote environmental stewardship and climate action.

Designed to raise awareness among students, faculty, and staff, the initiative encourages active participation in creating a healthier and more sustainable academic environment. The campaign also contributes to improving the university’s visual landscape while reducing its carbon footprint by incorporating plants that are well-adapted to local climatic conditions and require minimal water.

The campaign saw active involvement from both students and faculty members, with carefully selected planting sites across campus. The project fostered a strong sense of collaboration and community spirit, reinforcing the university’s identity as a leading institution for sustainability in Iraq.

This initiative marks the beginning of a broader series of environmental projects led by the college, all aligned with SDG 13: Climate Action. Future University affirms its role as Iraq’s first future-focused university, actively contributing to a greener and more resilient society through education, innovation, and action.
