Hanken School of Economics

About

Hanken School of Economics, one of the oldest business schools in the Nordic countries, was established more than one hundred years ago. Today, Hanken is the only stand-alone business school in Finland. Our strategy includes profiling the School as a genuinely international and research-oriented business school with close ties to the corporate world. We offer academic programmes on all levels (BSc, MSc and PhD) at two locations, in Helsinki and Vaasa.

Research at Hanken is carried out within all departments, with a special focus on four selected areas of strength. Many of our researchers are at the absolute forefront of their field. Our cooperation with the corporate world is reflected in joint research projects, in active interaction through our partner programme as well as the generous support we receive in our fundraising.

As a business school, Hanken has a solid foundation with international recognition reflected in our international accreditation, a sound financial basis, and  valuable national and international networks that support our international top research and competitive education programmes. We value our academic and corporate partners and we make sure that researchers and students at Hanken get a first- class education while building meaningful professional and personal networks.

Sustainability at Hanken

Social responsibility and Sustainability at Hanken is a core pillar of the Hanken 2030 strategy. It is integrated and advocated across all activities: research, teaching, partnerships, campus buildings and operations.

The mission is to create new knowledge and educate responsible professionals for the global economy and changing society through integrating ethics, responsibility, and sustainability in all activities. All activities are characterised by the Nordic values of equality, openness and integrity, and a commitment to high quality and continuous improvement.
